🌿 Boswarthen Farm Glamping – Frequently Asked Questions

🐄 About Boswarthen & Your Stay

Q: Why choose Boswarthen Farm Glamping?
A: We think we have it all – lovely tents, the farm experience and proper Cornish hosting! We don’t just provide tents in a field.

Q: Why choose Boswarthen over other safari tents in the area?
A: We’re independent, our tents are comfortable, stylish and relaxing, and we’re here to welcome you personally — not just “absent hosts.”

Q: How many does each tent accommodate?
A: Each Safari tent sleeps up to 6, the two-storey Safari Lodge sleeps up to 8, and the Gypsy Wagon with Bell Tent sleeps up to 4.

Q: Which tents have a hot tub?
A: The Lodge (No. 1 on the map) and the two Safari Tents in the lower field (Nos. 5 & 6).

Q: Which tents have a sea view?
A: They all do — even the Gypsy Wagon!

Q: What are the sleeping arrangements for each accommodation?
A: Each accommodation has a detailed floor plan showing the rooms and sleeping spaces. You can view these on our Accommodation page to see exactly how each tent is laid out.

🛏️ Facilities & Comfort

Q: Do we need to bring bed linen?
A: No – we provide bed linen, duvets and pillows, and your beds will be made up ready for your arrival.

Q: What about towels?
A: Please bring your own for showers and the beach, or we can supply a pack (one bath sheet and one hand towel) for £6.

Q: Do you provide tea towels?
A: Yes, one tea towel and one hand towel per stay. Extra ones are £1 each.

Q: Do we need to bring cooking utensils?
A: No, each accommodation is fully equipped with everything you’ll need – utensils, mugs, glasses, cutlery, etc.

Q: What do I cook on?
A: Each tent has a wood-burning stove with hob and oven, plus a gas hob for your morning cuppa/qucik pan of pasta after the beach. The Bell Tent has a twin gas hob.

Q: How do we keep food and drinks cold?
A: Each tent has a cool chest, and you can collect frozen packs free of charge from the honesty shop.

Q: Where do I wash the dishes?
A: The tents have Belfast sinks with cold running water,  the Gypsy Wagon has one outside.

Q: Is there a toilet inside the tent?
A: Yes – each accommodation has its own loo and hand basin (cold water).

Q: Is there a shower with each tent?
A: Tents with hot tubs have private showers. Other tents use our shared shower block with lovely Mira showers, plenty of hot water and good pressure (keeps an element of camping but are much better showers).

Q: Do we need to buy wood?
A: Only if you use up your allocation — extra crates are available for purchase.

Q: Can we have a BBQ or campfire?
A: Yes! Each tent has a firepit/BBQ (wood not provided). We also host a large campfire on pizza and lasagne/pasty nights for everyone to enjoy together.

Q: Is there electricity or Wi-Fi?
A: Limited electricity is available for phone charging. We don’t have Wi-Fi – this is a proper “get away from it all” holiday!

Q: What about mobile reception?
A: It varies around Cornwall, but generally isn’t too bad. It depends on your network.

🐾 Families & Dogs

Q: What equipment do you provide for young children?
A: We have a limited amount of travel cots, highchairs, a pushchair, toys and books (please book in advance). We don’t charge for these – it’s all part of being family-friendly.

Q: Can my child see the animals?
A: Absolutely! Children can help collect eggs, meet the ponies (likely to be a short walk), and join in our mini farm tours and calf feeding.

Q: Are you dog friendly?
A: Yes – up to two dogs per tent. There’s a £8 per night charge per dog. Please keep them on a lead and under control.

Q: Are there dog-friendly beaches nearby?
A: Yes! While some beaches have seasonal restrictions, there are still plenty of beautiful dog-friendly beaches and coves to explore.
Cornwall Council keeps an up-to-date list here: 👉Dogs on beaches - Cornwall Council
We have also printed the details in the information folder in your tent.

🗓️ Booking & Arrival

Q: What is the best way to book?
A: You can book directly through our website, or call me (Maddy) and I can do it for you.

Q: What days can I arrive?
A: Changeover days are usually Mondays and Fridays. Out of season we can be flexible and offer 2-night stays – just ask!

Q: How long can we stay?
A: Short breaks (2–3 nights) are available in low season. Longer stays (4–14 nights) are common – our record is 17 nights!

Q: What time is check-in/check-out?
A: Arrivals are between 4 pm – 6 pm. Check out is 10am.may be able to welcome you ahead of schedule, depending on how preparations are going.
If you’re delayed, it’s just as important to call us. Arriving in the dark can be tricky and may disturb other guests, so we do have a cut-off time for arrivals. We’re sure you’ll understand — we’re busy on the farm too and need our rest!

Q: Where do we park?
A: There’s a separate car park with wheelbarrows to transport luggage. Cars aren’t allowed in the tent field.

Q: Do you accept stag or hen parties?
A: Yes – by prior arrangement only, with conditions to ensure families aren’t disturbed.

Q: Do you offer travel/cancellation insurance?
A: We recommend it. You can take out cover through our link with Booking Protect (even after booking, before the final balance is paid).

Q: I’m having problems booking or want a particular tent – what should I do?
A: Just ring or email me. I’m happy to sort it for you, even on weekends or evenings.

🏖️ On-Site , Local Amenities & Beaches

Q: What’s in the honesty shop?
A: A wide range – from local meat, cider and homemade meals to wine, pasta, baked beans, ice cream, firelighters and candles. A full list is in your welcome document.

Q: Are the beaches close by?
A: Yes – over 50 beaches within half an hour’s drive!

Q: Where is the best beach?
A: That depends on what you want to do, ie surfing, paddle boarding, swimming, relaxing, dog walking, fishing. The list is long.

Q: Can I buy fresh fish locally?
A: Yes – Newlyn Fishing Port is just down the road, great for crab, lobster and more.

Q: Does Penzance have nice restaurants and cafés?
A: Loads! Most are informal and many are dog friendly. The area is littered with outstanding seafood restaurants, cafes, pubs and food trailers.

Q: Can I rent equipment (bikes, kayaks, etc.)?
A: We don’t hire equipment ourselves, but we can point you in the right direction, and some local companies will deliver the equipment here for you.

Q: What about visiting local attractions, gardens, and cafés?
A: Visit Cornwall is an excellent website for up-to-date information and inspiration. Since Covid, some attractions and gardens have continued with ticket-only or pre-booking systems, so it’s always best to check before you go.
We especially recommend booking the  Minack Theatre in advance — the storytelling performances are very popular. St Michael's Mount is also pre-book only  — you can no longer turn up on the day and walk across the causeway.

☀️During & After Your Stay

Q: Do we have to clean the tents?
A: Just wash up, put rubbish/recycling in the bins provided, and strip the beds before you leave.

Q: Is there a quiet time on site?
A: Yes, it's 10pm to 8am. This is for the comfort of all guests, those who like an early night and those to like to have a little lie in.

Q: What if I have a problem or need advice during my stay?
A: I’ll check in with you daily and I am always just a phone call away if you need help or local recommendations.
