Q: How many does each tent accommodate?
A: Safari tents sleep up to 6, safari lodge (2 storey) sleeps up to 8 & our gypsy wagon with bell tent sleeps up to 4.
Q: Which tents have a hot tub?
A: The Lodge which sleeps 8 (no1 on the map) and the two safari tents in the lower field, which each sleep 6 (nos 5 & 6 on the map).
Q: Do we need to bring bed linen?
A: No, bed linen is provided along with duvets and pillows. Your beds will be made up for your arrival.
Q: Do we need to bring any utensils?
A: No, each accommodation is fully equipped with cooking utensils, mugs, glasses, cutlery, etc. We have taken some items out this year, but it is still available just ask when you are here.
Q: We have young children, what equipment do you provide and what is the cost?
A: We have travel cots, highchairs, a pushchair, toys and books (for the first three items please book in advance as these items are limited), we can even find a tub for bath time. Here at Boswarthen we don't believe that you should be charging for these items if you are truly family friendly.
Q: What about towels?
A: You will need to bring those for the showers and beach. However, we can supply these at a cost of £6, the pack includes one bath sheet and one hand towel.
Q: And tea towels?
A: We do provide a tea towel and a hand towel for each stay, If you think that this will not be enough then please bring some or I can provide some more at a cost of £1 each.
Q: Is there a toilet inside the tent?
A: Each accommodation has it’s very own loo complete with hand basin (cold running water only). Hot water is provided with the tents that have private showers.
Q: Is there a shower with each tent?
A: Yes and No, any tent which has a hot tub has it's own shower facility. We still like to keep a certain element of camping for the other tents but you certainly won’t be slumming it. There is a shower block with lovely Mira showers with plenty of hot water and good pressure, and in fact are better showers.
Q: Where do I wash the dishes?
A: The tents have a beautiful Belfast sink with cold running water, the wagon is slightly more primitive with a belfast sink outside or a washing up bowl.
Q: What do I cook on?
A: Each tent has a wood burning stove, you can cook on the hob or in the oven although this is a lot slower and temperatures vary with the amount of wood, there is a gas hob in each tent that quick cup of coffee in the morning.
The bell tent has a twin gas hob.
Q: How do we keep food and beer cold?
A: There is a cool chest for each tent and frozen packs are available free of charge from the honesty shop.
Q: Which tents have a sea view?
A: They all do including the gypsy caravan.
Q: Do I need to buy wood?
A: Only if you burn all of your allocation.
Q: Can we have a bbq?
A: Yes, each accommodation has a firepit/bbq although we do not provide wood for this. A crate of wood can be purchased at a cost.
Q: Can we have a campfire?
A: Yes, in your fire pit (wood is not provided) and we also do a large campfire for all guests when we offer pizza/lasagne nights. This gives you the opportunity have a drink and chat with other guests.
Q: Are we dog friendly?
A: Yes, we do accept dogs, maximum of two per tent and we do have a limit on the number of tents with dogs. There is a small charge of £7 per night per dog. As you would expect they will need to be kept on a lead and under control.
Q: Are there dog friendly beaches?
A: Yes, there are bans on certain beaches but there are many beautiful beaches and coves that you can still take Fido too. Cornwall Council have a website with details which I provide in my welcome document.
Q: What days can I arrive on?
A: Our changeover days are normally Monday and Friday’s, but out of season we can negotiate different days and 2 night stays are also available, just phone and ask.
Q: What is the length of a stay?
A: We can do 2 nights in low season, although 3,4,7,10,11 and 14 nights are normal, we have had guests stay for a whopping 17 nights.
Q: What is your arrival time?
A: We ask our guests to arrive between 4pm and 6pm.
Q: What if we are early?
A: We do understand that your estimated journey time can be quicker than you expected, please ring us as we MAY be able to accept you early but that does depend on many things.
Q: What if we are going to be late?
A: We also understand that your journey may be slower or that you set off later than anticipated, and then you WILL need to phone us. This does not only impact on us but arriving in the dark is twice as difficult for you and it may impact on other families if you need to pass their tents. We have a cut off time and you will not be able to arrive after this, I am sure that you will understand, we are busy on the farm too and we need sleep.
Q: Where do we park?
A: We have a separate car park for your car where there are wheelbarrows for you to transport your luggage. We do not allow cars in the campsite field.
Q: What is in the honesty shop?
A: The honesty shop has a wide selection of produce from local meat, local cider, homemade meals, wine, baked beans, pasta, local ice cream, firelighters and candles etc. There is a more comprehensive list in our welcome document.
Q: Do we have to clean the tents?
A: We ask that you wash the dishes, put your rubbish and recycling in the bins/boxes provided and strip the beds before you leave.
Q: Do you accept stag/hen do’s?
A: Yes, we do. However this MUST be by prior arrangement and have conditions attached. We won’t allow families to be impacted.
Q: What if I need to charge my mobile phone?
A: We can offer you a limited supply of electricity in one of our sheds/buildings.
Q: Do you have wifi?
A: No, no, no! This is a getaway from it all holiday, chatting, fresh air and fun is mandatory. If you need it for your work, then that is different and you can visit our home on the understanding that you take us as you find us!
Q: Are the beaches close by?
A: There are over 50 beaches within half an hour’s drive from us, there is something for everyone.
Q: Where is the best beach?
A: That depends on what you want to do, ie surfing, paddle boarding, swimming, relaxing, dog walking, fishing. The list is long.
Q: What if I have a problem whilst on holiday or need advice?
A: We are here to help, I will make a point of seeing you each day should you need any local advice, etc and whatever your problem we are just a phone call away.
Q: Can my child see the animals?
A: Yes, yes, yes! We welcome guests to see calf feeding and to our little farm tour. There are chickens in the campsite field and the children can collect any eggs. We have ponies too (you may be required to walk a little distance).
Q: Does Penzance have nice restaurants and cafes?
A: Yes, there are many amazing places to eat and a majority are informal. Some are dog friendly. Booking is always recommended. The area is littered with outstanding seafood restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Q: Can I buy fresh fish locally?
A: Yes, Newlyn Fishing Port is on our doorstep for crabs and lobsters.
Q: Why choose a holiday at Boswarthen?
A: We think we have it all - lovely tents, the farm experience and proper Cornish hosting! We don't just provide tents in a field.
Q: What is the best way to book?
A: You can either book through here or if you would prefer I will make the booking for you and then send you a booking summary and details of how to pay.

Q: Do you do travel/cancellation insurance?
A: Always recommended. We have a link to a company called Booking Protect and you can take this up even after you have booked providing you have not paid your final balance or you can make separate arrangements.
Q: Visiting attractions and cafes, etc?
A: Visit Cornwall is an excellent site for more information. Since Covid some gardens, etc were ticket only or had to be prebooked. It is always advisable to book the Minack Theatre as the storytelling is very popular. St Michaels's Mount is prebook only, you can no longer cross the causeway to visit or just turnup.
Q: Why choose Boswarthen over other safari tents in the area?
A: We think that we are the best in the area. Apart from being independant, our tents are comfortable and stylish but relaxing and we are here to help, not just tents in a field with absent hosts. We are here to welcome you, to show you around and to explain a few things and more importantly, to answer any questions!
